Positions becoming available within the company are dealt with through the following process:
Applicants may respond to a formal advertisement or submit an expression of interest.
Advertised positions are open to appropriately qualified people. Applications should be submitted in writing, accompanied by a CV and include contact details of two referees.
Where a person wishes to express interest in a position that is not currently advertised, they are invited to complete and submit a Confidential Application for Employment which will be retained on file for six months.

Applicants shortlisted for interview are asked to respond to a number of set questions by a panel of two or three managers /or senior personnel. More than one interview may be required to complete this process.
Qualifications and references will be checked for applicants being considered for any position.
Successful candidates will be advised of our intent to engage, subject to satisfactory screening.
National Police Check
Successful candidates may be required to participate in a national police check undertaken by an authorised organisation. This is dependent on the role and requirments of the position.
Medical Assessment
Successful candidates must satisfactorily complete a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) undertaken by a VEC-approved pre-employment health assessment provider or medical practitioner.
There are no exceptions to these requirements.
Subject to meeting all the above criteria, successful applicants will be provided with a Letter of Offer and/or Terms and Conditions of Employment. A minimum three month probationary period applies to all appointments.
VEC provides opportunities for work experience for high school and tertiary students throughout our operations.
The experience provides students with the opportunity to develop personally and professionally in a diverse work environment. Areas include project management, engineering, office administration, carpentry, boilermaker/welding and general labouring.
Expressions of interest for short-term placements are welcome from students interested in an area relevant to the company’s civil engineering business.
