Bridgewater Bridge team announced

VEC Civil Engineering is proud to be part of the team that will deliver Tasmania’s largest transport infrastructure project.

VEC is one of a number of Tasmanian businesses that will partner with preferred tenderer McConnell Dowell to build a new, four-lane Bridgewater Bridge.

“There’s exceptional capability within the Tasmanian construction industry, and a project of this scale needs to draw on all of that and more,” said Daniel Longey, VEC’s Manager Structures, Civil Tasmania.

“We’re proud to be working with a company like McConnell Dowell, which has experience with projects at a scale not often seen in Tasmania.

“This project will provide an opportunity to build deeper capacity and capability in the Tasmanian construction industry.

“There is significant opportunity for the involvement of local construction expertise, Tasmanian suppliers and local job creation.

“And it will deliver enduring positive outcomes for communities, commuters and transport stakeholders.”

Mr Longey said VEC is well positioned to help deliver excellent outcomes on this project.

“We have strong credentials in road and bridge design and construction, Tasmanian-based pre-cast concrete and steel fabrication facilities, and a highly-skilled team with significant experience in construction of complex structures.

“We’re looking forward to the start of work in 2022 and we congratulate McConnell Dowell and all of the Tasmanian organisations who will join forces to make this project a success.”
