We thought you'd like to know what makes him tick.
David is a passionate young man who believes in the power of engineering to solve people’s problems.
“I believe engineering can change the world one project at a time,” David said.
“And the way you do this is through sustainability.
“For example, engineering solutions can be found to mitigate challenges in design and construction which maximize efficiency in how much material you take off the land, how much vegetation you’re removing so that you produce a sustainable solution.”
For a young engineer, David has a wealth of experience across projects in defence, renewable energy, bridges and roads.
During the past 10 years he’s worked in tendering and procurement, design management of major projects and site engineering in construction. This end-to-end experience stands David in good stead to contribute at any stage of a project phase.
And his passion for engineering extends to giving back to the community and his profession. He’s worked with Engineers Australia to promote engineering to young people. This include work on a program called Smart Seeds.
“This program is about developing young minds to get excited about engineering. We asked them to come up with an idea that can be developed (a sustainable idea) which could provide a solution to help change the future of Tasmania.”
David will represent Tasmanian in the national awards, which will be announced in November.
